San Antonio Spurs rookie and No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama was a late scratch for Saturday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks after re-injuring his ankle when he stepped on a ball boy during pre-game warmups.
Wembanyama had missed Tuesday’s game with an ankle injury but was able to return on Thursday with a minutes restriction. The plan was for him to again play with a restriction on Saturday until he injured himself in warmups.
After making a layup, Wembanyama stepped on a Mavericks ball boy that was positioned along the baseline. Wembanyama never saw the ball boy after making his shot and backed into him.
