For the first time in a decade, someone other Nolan Arenado won the National League Gold Glove Award for third basemen. It’s not much of a surprise, since Arenado was not even named one of the three finalists for this year’s trophy, but given that no one has won more Platinum Gloves (awarded to the best fielder in each league regardless of position), it is somewhat odd not to see his name among the other winners. He was unseated by Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes, who took home his first award in his second time as a finalist. On top of that, Arenado’s name has been mentioned in trade rumors this offseason, so it’s quite possible we’ve seen the last of Arenado manning the hot corner for the Cards in St. Louis.
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. Since 1957, MLB has awarded players the Rawlings Gold Glove Award for superior individual fielding performances at each position. In that time, 23 different players have earned at least nine Gold Gloves at their respective positions, including Arenado who has 10. So with that in mind, can you name them all in five minutes?
Good luck!
