Eagles safety Kevin Byard chose one heck of a time to snag his first interception as an Eagle.
Philly’s prized trade deadline acquisition intercepted a Patrick Mahomes pass in the end zone to stop a promising Kansas City drive and keep Monday night’s game tied at seven.
The Eagles sent its 2024 fifth- and sixth-round picks and safety Terrell Edmunds to the Titans for eight-year veteran Byard on Oct. 23.
Drafted in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Byard had 27 interceptions in Tennessee, including a league-high eight interceptions in 2017.
With his interception on “Monday Night Football,” Byard tied Broncos safety Justin Simmons for most interceptions by a safety since 2016.
The Eagles’ pass defense has struggled this season, entering Week 11 ranked 29th in pass yards allowed (257 yards per game) and 31st in touchdowns allowed (19) and interceptions (four).
Byard was brought in to help flip the secondary’s fortune. He succeeded early against the Chiefs.
