The Washington Huskies should be in good shape for the 2024 college football season despite losing Michael Penix Jr.
Will Rogers, who previously played at Mississippi State, has committed to transfer to the Huskies.
Rogers was a four-year starter at Mississippi State. He is coming off a down season in which he had just 1,626 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and four interceptions over eight games. But Rogers put up huge numbers in the late Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense in 2021 and 2022. Rogers threw for 8,713 yards, 71 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in his sophomore and junior seasons combined.
Unlike Penix, who had two years of eligibility remaining when he transferred to Washington prior to the 2022 season, Rogers has just one year of eligibility left. But the Huskies should be very dangerous while they have the former Bulldog at quarterback.
The 13-0 Huskies have some major business ahead this season. They’re set to face the 12-1 Texas Longhorns in the College Football Playoff semifinals on Jan. 1.
